FAQ

Common questions

What does therapy cost, and do you accept insurance?+

My fee is $200 for individual sessions and $250 for couples or family sessions. I'm a private-pay therapist and don't bill insurance directly. If you have questions about fees, bring it up in our free consultation and I'm happy to talk through it.

Where are you located, and do you offer online therapy?+

I see clients in person in Costa Mesa and Mission Viejo in Orange County, California. I also offer secure telehealth sessions for anyone in California or Colorado. If you're not local to Orange County or simply prefer meeting from home, online sessions work just as well and are just as personal.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?+

If something feels stuck, heavy, or quietly unmanageable, that's a meaningful signal. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many of my clients come in simply wanting to understand themselves better, communicate more openly, or move through a transition with more clarity. A free consultation is the easiest way to see if it feels like the right fit.

What is your approach to therapy?+

My approach is warm, collaborative, and integrative. I draw from attachment-based, systemic, and emotion-focused work, and I tailor each session to the person in front of me. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I believe in showing up with curiosity, presence, and honesty, and in building a relationship where real change becomes possible.

How long does therapy typically take?+

It depends on what you're working through and what you're hoping for. Some clients come for a few months around a specific transition; others stay longer for deeper, ongoing work. We'll check in regularly about how things are progressing and what you need, so the pace always belongs to you.

What does a marriage and family therapist do?+

A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is a mental health clinician trained to treat individuals, couples, and families through a relational lens. That means we look not only at what you're feeling, but at the relationships and patterns shaping how you experience yourself and others. LMFTs are licensed to diagnose and treat mental health concerns and are trained extensively in working with relationship dynamics.

Do you work with people of different faiths, backgrounds, or identities?+

Absolutely. I work with clients across cultures, identities, faiths, and life experiences, and I see that diversity as a gift to the therapeutic relationship. Having grown up between Germany and the United States, I bring genuine cross-cultural awareness and a deep respect for each person's unique story and worldview.
